The Birds have Arrived!

Warning: Lots of pictures ahead Spring has sprung here in the Southeast too. Beautiful birds are all over my yard. We're filling the birdfeeders atleast every other day.
Not sure but I think this is some kind of Warbler. Very, very tiny.
This is a Red Winged Black Bird. We have lots and I think they empty the feeders.
Isn't he gorgeous? This is a Painted Bunting, very colorful!
Blue Grossbeak - fat little bird.
Indigo Bunting. There are 3 pairs of these.

Knitting content and pictures soon, really!

A Meme for lack of anything else

Mim at MimKnits was talking about all her knicknames on her blog tonight and decided to make it a meme', so, since I have no knitting to show you I thought I'd do it. I don't usually do them because, well, I take forever trying to think of answers. This one is easy - well, sort of.

Sheri - This is THE nickname, my real name is Sharon
Mom - Love this one
Babe - Love this one too
Baby Doll - my favorite
Maamaa - I did not want to be called Grandma! My oldest DGD named me this.
Hilda - My Mother calls me this when joking around.
Sheri Derry - My Grandfather's nickname for me.
Shez - My Fathers nickname for me and the name I use on the internet

I've been working on my Dale sweater and other things but not as much as usual. Seems when your heart is working right you have more spunk and when you have more spunk you move around and do more. So, guess that's my excuse. I have a wonderful Cardiac Rehab nurse (Hi Ginger) who says I need to move more and knit less. I'm trying to do both so pictures next week of something!

Rained Out

We were all ready for the beach on Tuesday, the beach chairs, the cooler, the towels were all in the car and then I noticed something was missing. Something just wasn't right. I had my bathing suit on, had the sunscreen but something was just not right. There was no sun! So, when my Oldest DD and my Oldest DGD got here, we went and did this.........
We went plant shopping. This is the back of my Honda, CRV, and Lexie, my oldest granddaughter. See, she has on her bathingsuit, all ready for the beach. Maybe next week. This week is already out cause even here in Georgia we're feeling this cold snap and NOT enjoying it. Not even a week ago we were planning on the beach, sitting on the deck, today? Today we had to turn the heat on while driving to church.

Easter was wonderful, all 3 of my kids were home and the 3 grands and dinner, even though low fat, was delicious. I'll tell you about it next time, with pictures.

Knitting is slowing down because of Cardiac Rehab 3 mornings a week. I did more knitting in the morning than any other time. Haven't found a new knitting routine yet, but I'm working on it.

Happy Knitting!

eta-my oldest DD took the picture and evidently the date on her camera isn't right - this picture was not taken in 2004 - it was taken last Tuesday, really.

A Little of This, A Little of That.

This is what my arm looked like after Libby's "Day at the Spa."

This happened almost instantly after she scratched me. Poor thing, she hates having her nails trimmed but they grow and grow so we tackle her every few weeks. She barely grazed my arm with her foot but, when you're on blood thinners (Plavix) this is what happens. It didn't bleed, just instantly bruised.

This is my first try at some Fuzzy Feet. I'm using some Lion Wool that I picked up at Michaels. This isn't bad for felting slippers but it's too itchy for me to use for a sweater. I love getting the variegated and a solid to match. I have more, too, that I bought last week.

This is a briefcase pattern that the Baby Girl picked out when we were in St. Mary's. This too, is Lion Wool. The pattern is from Chris Bylsma Designs, called Making Waves, which I've never heard of. It's a fun pattern and fast, done on 15 needles. I only work on it a little each day cause those big, chunky needles make my hands sore.

That's it for today. Going to the beach with my Oldest DD and my Oldest DGD tomorrow to bask in the sun. Hope you all have a great day.

Your Shoe is Untied!

April fools!

What a great weekend! The Baby Girl and the Oldest DD's college had their 100th Bicentennial celebration on Friday night complete with food and fireworks. It was so nice to watch the kids, all the kids, enjoying themselves. We met the girls there, including the grandkids and friends.

Saturday was the Spring Festival and Plant Sale at the colleges Botanical Garden, so I picked them all up (went to Starbucks to get my Chia Tea Latte' first) and we all went and walked around and saw some great plants. The kids had a whole bunch of stuff to do and make. Here's my oldest granddaughter and the Baby Girls roommate in a sack race. The Roommate, farthest from the camera, giggled so hard throughout her hops, that the Granddaughter won. See the pile at the end of the line? That's manure! Neither of them fell in it. It was my favorite kind of weekend with lots to do and see. I bought some plants and BTB put them in the ground today. I got him a Banana Bush that is supposed to be native to this area and actually grow banana's and a Bottle Brush bush. I got an Angel Trumpet for me. My parents have one and the thing fascinates me with those huge flowers. So, lots of fun.

I had my first Cardiac Rehab session on Friday and really enjoyed it. They don't want me working out to the point of sweating, yet (I hate sweating!) so it's a very relaxed type of exercise but targets the muscles, the heart and helps tone the body. This poor body needs toned! So, I have about 10 minutes of warm ups which is mainly stretching the muscles, then I do about 45 minutes of either walking on the treadmill or this other machine that is supposed to be like walking up stairs but you're sitting down and working your arms almost like rowing a boat, all on the same machine. Then I walk on the treatmill again slower, for my cool down, then stretch again. Friday when I went they had to hook me up to the heart monitor so the computer could follow my every move since it was my first visit. My blood pressure was lower than the Cardiac Nurse thought it should be but then she looked at my list of meds and realized it was from one of them. Everything else went fine and I survived! Having a heart attack is scary when you try to start doing things that you are used to doing but haven't done in awhile. They keep assuring me that I'll be fine. I've quit smoking (I smoked for 30 some years and haven't touched them since the night of my heartattack. That'll make you quit, fast!), I've lost 17 pounds and now I'm exercising. I have about 12 more pounds to lose but I think it'll come off faster now with the C.R. 3 times a week.

So, busy weekend and the start of "rehab." The Baby Girl tells her friends her Mom is in "rehab", just doesn't bother telling them what kind of rehab. You gotta love her.

Have a great week, hope your weekend was as fun as mine and as always

My Lamb Collection Keeps Growing!

I received this in the mail todayI was so excited while opening it! You know, a lot of bloggers get gifts in the mail from blogging buddies far and near and some of us are very envious of those friends that you've never met but who you've become friends with via the computer. Well, now I'm one of you! This cute little lamby (Her name is Mini), who in no way, shape or form looks anything like a rat :o), was a gift to me from Susan and I can't tell you how happy I was to see this cute little thing! She even came in her own Easter Basket. Here, another picture, minus Squirt. Isn't that the cutest thing? And she's holding a yellow flower, which I'm guessing is a daffodil, my favorite! Susan, you made my day! Thank you so much!

This is how far I've gotten on my Dale of Norway sweater. Haven't worked on it in a while because of the sinus infection. Kind of hard to concentrate when your nose won't quit running, your eyes water and you keep sneezing. But, I'll get back to it soon enough. I just kind of through it over my monitor but you can see how much is done compared to the last picture.

I went to see my daughters' today, had lunch, had my hair done and the oldest DD and I decided to have our toes done while we waited for the Baby Girl. She brought a very nice guy to lunch with her :o) and she had to wait for him to get out of class. Um, she'll kill me for that one, but I couldn't resist. And her best friend/roommate was there with us also. We love Thursday Lunches.Morris (orange) and Bear (black, behind my leg) wanted to get in the picture. Can you see my toes? Love that color. The green on the deck? P O L L E N - I hate that stuff. I have to stay in till it's no longer green on my decks. It's everywhere.

I promise not to bore you with Heart Stuff, but, I will be mentioning this once in awhile from now on. Tomorrow morning I start Cardiac Rehab at our local hospital. I'll fill you in next time as to what I have to do there, but, I'm hoping it helps me lose the last 13 pounds.

My Newest Little Lamb

This is the newest lamb added to my growing collection. The enabling came from a fellow blogger, I found a link for it in my e-mail about a week and a 1/2 ago and of course, fell in love. It also came with a sweater pattern so she can have sweaters, too. It is so soft and has a bean bag in it's backside so it can sit. I got it from patternworks and it was on sale. I think he's just adorable. Thanks again Susan!
eta: I was going to name this post Shari had a Little Lamb, but, I didn't want you all to think I spelled my name with an A, but how cute that would have been, huh?

Spring Has Sprung

My Wee Tiny Sock arrived in yesterday's mail. Isn't it adorable? Laura hand dyed the yarn and even sent me a mini skein "for repairs." And isn't the card cute? I'm thinking it's a petunia, close up, macro, but I could be wrong. I think it's pretty. Thank you so much Laura, you did a great job, on both the sock and the dying.

I haven't blogged in awhile because I've been going in 10 directions for a month or so. Went to visit our son in Atlanta a few weeks ago and yes, visited a LYS up there. Want to see what I bought?
The blue in the bottom right corner is Trecking XXL sock yarn. I got some of the new clips for holding seams together, 3 skeins of Regia Silk to make Clapotis, a cute little thimble pouch kit, Fiesta yarn to make a shawl and the ones in the back you can just barely see are Wool in the Woods Maiden, both for another shawl. One is an off white and the other is different shades of pink, grey and green variegated. And on the right, behind the Trecking, is 2 skeins of Mountain Colors hand painted sock yarn. BTB has asked for a pair of socks so the Moose Creek colorway is for him and the Elderberry colorway is for me. What a fun yarn shop to walk around. Room after room just chock full of all the latest and greatest. Main Street Yarn and Fiber in Watkinsville, GA. (if you click on the name it'll take you there. not sure where this blue underlined stuff is coming from!)

After being home a few weeks we took the Baby Girl on vacation for her Spring Break. She was going to take a friend and we were going to Nashville but the friend couldn't go so the Baby Girl decided she'd like to go somewhere near a beach. We took her to Fernandina Beach, Jacksonville Zoo, St. Marys (GA) and except for the knats we had a great time. I got to go to another LYS in Jacksonville, A Stitch in Time and bought a few books and some of the new Tofutsies yarn for another pair of socks. Yeah, I know, for someone who hates knitting socks I sure buy a lot of sock yarn. But, remember, I do love to wear them! No pictures of that stash, it's already put away, sorry.

The day after getting home from that trip we went camping with 2 other couples that are friends of ours and had a great time. No gnats on that trip so i got to sit outside and knit a little. I had my first somore' in 16 weeks and let me tell you, my mouth was so happy! I only put a little piece of Hershey bar in there with the marshmellow but my mouth found it, savored it and enjoyed every second it was in there! Eating no fat sucks, especially when out and about. Everyone wants hamburgers and hotdogs when you're camping - I get chicken. 24/7 I've been eating chicken!

So, we're home, planning our Easter menu and annual Easter Egg Hunt and looking forward to spring. I spent the week with the Baby Girl with a sinus infection so I'm looking forward to the pollen leaving and the green tinge to my car disappearing. It is really green! Wanna see? I'll run out and have BTB take a picture quick. If you can enlarge it you'll see the mess. My nose isn't happy with spring but I'm loving the 80 degree temps from inside the sunroom.

I've done several more inches on the Dale of Norway sweater and will show pictures of that next time. And, I promise "next time" will be a little sooner. The Oldest has been getting on to me for taking so long to blog. Glad she keeps up! I blogged kiddo, see?

Thanks again to Lauren for that cute Wee Tiny Sock! Here's another picture, just cause it's so darn cute........
Happy Knitting!
Not sure why some parts keep turning blue and underlined, but I'm not doing it. Sorry if you thought they were links.

February, A Good Month!

It's my 2 year Blogaversary! I thought it was in February but wasn't 100% till I looked it up! That went by fast.

February is also the love of my lifes birthday month, the day after Valentine's Day. February is also my father's birthday and my brothers! Great men must be born in February, huh?

I have a new addition to my lamb collection. Meet Lamby (should have been lambchop but I couldn't think of that name for anything!)I took my oldest granddaughter shopping for her birthday and she had a gift card for Build a Bear and she was sitting right at the door, and she's a limited edition and I couldn't resist!

Lamby is modeling what I've gotten done so far on the Dale of Norway Cardigan I'm working on. I'm loving it!

Here is Lamby with the socks I did this week along with I'm Knitting As Fast As I Can
There are definitely lots more of these in the future. It was a fast, fun, relaxing knit. And, they also were made with Cabin Cove Yarn so I guess they can go in the Gallery at some point (when I figure out where that was.)And, I finished thisI started these for my son about 2 years ago! They're made with Plmouth Encore Worsted and still are taking forever but the kids got a size 14 shoe and very wide. So, about 2 more years and he might have a pair.

I'm hoping I figured out the problem with leaving comments. If not, I'm reading them all, just can't tell you.

Happy Knitting!
